200 local ladies, and a few brave men, took to the red carpet at the Odeon Cinema Liverpool One for the eagerly awaited Absolutely Fabulous movie last Friday at a charity screening lunch in aid of Radio City's Cash for Kids.
The event, hosted by Radio City's Leanne Campbell with a guest appearance from Peter Price, saw 'Sweeties' and 'Darlings’ tread the red carpet premiere screening at the Odeon Cinema in Liverpool One, where guests were treated to a drink on arrival, photo booth and the obligatory bag of popcorn before taking their seats to be the first in the region to see the movie.
After the movie guests made their way to the Hilton Hotel where guests were welcomed with an Absolutely Fabulous arrival drink before enjoying a three course lunch with entertainment, followed by a DJ to keep the party going in the PIMA Bar.
The movie boasts over 60 cameo roles from a host of celebrities including Liverpool model and presenter Abbey Clancey.
Abbey, who attended the London premiere, said "I have been a huge fan of 'Ab Fab' my whole life. Such wonderful characters, outrageous fun and dripping in high fashion, so when I was offered a small cameo in the film I literally jumped at the chance to see the girls in action. The girls are true professionals with an enormous sense of fun and are incredibly humble. It was an honour to be part of it, something I can look back on as being Absolutely Fabulous and have a giggle about"
The event was, organised by Carolyn Hughes, CHPR, in association with Radio City's Cash for Kids and supported by Barclays, and Carolyn Hughes said "As soon as I knew the movie was being made I planned to host a Liverpool premiere. It was a great way to see the movie in the company of 200 excited people and then sit down for lunch at the Hilton Hotel and dissect it in every hilarious detail.
Also, the fact that we raised £14,000 for Radio City's Cash for Kids makes it Absolutely Fabulous".
The next Premiere Screening Lunch will be Bridget Jones's Baby on 16th September - at the Odeon Liverpool One, followed by a three course lunch with entertainment at the Hilton Hotel. Tickets £50 each. Funds raised for Radio City's Cash for Kids. Please call 0151 472 6965 to secure your tickets.
